FINAL FANTASY IV video updated

We added today an in-store video for FINAL FANTASY IV to the Videos section. This one, as opposed to the one currently showing on the official FINAL FANTASY IV site, features English voiceovers. Enjoy!

This is an empty post but read on if you're so inclined.

OMG we almost forgot to write a blog post today! We were too busy working on this super-secret project! (Well, everything around here at Square Enix is super-secret, so it means we're just working on some usual stuff.)

There also was a big meeting today about the upcoming MEMBERS features and goodies (one of the reasons why we didn't have time to write a blog post); we're always looking for ideas, so if you have any, let us know. If you're a member, you're part of the SQUARE ENIX MEMBERS team.

More about Piano Collections FINAL FANTASY XI

We now have a mini-site dedicated for Piano Collections FINAL FANTASY XI, the new music CD we mentioned in our last blog post. Go check out the picture of a Harpsichord you will receive when you reserve your copy through our online store! (The picture is in the "Product" page, on the right bottom corner.) You can also listen to the samples from the album on the "Previews" page.

Please keep in mind that YOU NEED TO PREORDER A COPY of Piano Collections FINAL FANTASY XI to receive a redemption code for the in-game item. You may reserve your copy through June 12, 2008 (10:30 a.m. PDT) from our online store.

Preorder Piano Collections FINAL FANTASY XI and receive in-game item

Starting today, we're taking preorders for Piano Collections FINAL FANTASY XI, which is a special soundtrack featuring all-new recordings of selected pieces from FINAL FANTASY XI original soundtracks.

And here's what's really cool about this: the first-edition releases of the CD will come with a special in-game item redemption code! By registering the unique serial code included with the CD, you can receive a Harpsichord in your Mog House.

The preorder period ends June 12th (10:30 a.m. PDT), so go here to reserve your copy now!

FINAL FANTASY IV web site updated

The official web site for FINAL FANTASY IV was updated today; the site now features the story section, the characters section and a trailer.

We also launched the full web site for FINAL FANTASY FABLES: Chocobo's Dungeon earlier this week. In fact, we updated/launched all sorts of web sites this week; INFINITE UNDISCOVERY, DRAGON QUEST IV and DRAGON QUEST Zenithia Trilogy Portal.
We're going to keep you busy this summer.

INFINITE UNDISCOVERY trailer in full HD

This has been a busy week for us. Along with DRAGON QUEST IV, we announced the ship date for INFINITE UNDISCOVERY yesterday (September 2, 2008), and as promised in the press release, we have posted here the special trailer in full HD. We hope you have a high-resolution monitor (and a good internet connection...).

By the way, he says "Diminuendo Dive." Yeah.

DRAGON QUEST IV: Chapters of the Chosen box art

As you may already know by now, we announced today the release date of DRAGON QUEST IV: Chapters of the Chosen for Nintendo DS (it's September 16, in case you didn't know). Here's the box art... in 3D!

All you members with a penchant for heroics, get ready. The DQ excitement is just getting started.

Everyone's Kingdom is now open

Today we opened a mini site within MEMEBERS called "Everyone's Kingdom," which is based on the world of FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES: My Life as a King. As more peope visit the little kingdom, more content will become available. The kingdom currently offers a couple of downloadable items, so check it out!

Also updated was Part 1 of the Q&A with the director of My Life as a King, Kenichiro Yuji. To find out more about the game, visit the official site.

Greener grass coming to a side near you

We've been pretty quiet in the past few weeks, but that doesn't mean we've been playing games all day (we do play games, but not all day). In fact we've been quite busy working on some upcoming features for MEMBERS, which you will see soon. We hope you have  patience as much as those who anticipate FINAL FANTASY XIII or DRAGON QUEST IX.

Question of the Day:

Q. The Japanese version of SQUARE ENIX MEMBERS has so much more content... Are we getting what they already have in the near future?

A. First of all, we'd like you to know that the Japanese MEMBERS started in 2005, and when it started, it wasn't as rich in content as it is today. The North American MEMBERS is still two months old, and has a lot of room for growth, for sure.

When we launched this site, we stated in our announcement that we're planning to roll out more services in several phases over the coming months; rest assured that you'll be seeing more and more over the course of this year. Beyond that, we're all interested in seeing how MEMBERS will develop.

Working. Hard.

It's 8:20 p.m. on Friday and we're still here at the office.

The full web site for FINAL FANTASY FABLES: Chocobo's Dungeon shall arrive soon, thanks to this hard-working Square Enix employee!

Cake and ice cream.

Guess who's turning eight today? You were born on May 15, 2000 and went to create quite a reputation for yourself.

Before coming to the United States, you first journeyed through the land of Japan. You received a perfect score from Famitsu, one of the gaming industry's biggest print publications. Can you believe that you were the only game in the entire PlayStation library to receive a perfect score?

You finally reached the United States three months later, and went on to become one of the best-selling PlayStation games, still cherished by the gaming community to this day.

Happy birthday, Vagrant Story!

What do you want to know?

Here at Memberland, we receive inquiries everyday from the members and non-members visiting the site. Below is a breakdown of what sort of questions/inquiries we're getting, presented in a classic Microsoft Excel-style chart:

08051401.gifWe'd like to point out that the "unintelligible" messages were written in foreign languages that we are yet to master. It would help if you wrote your messages in English. Our English is pretty good, we think.

We appreciate your feedback, as always. We will provide answers if we have them!

DRAGON QUEST SWORDS. FO' SIZZLE!

DRAGON QUEST SWORDS: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors' price has been slashed to $39.99!

Don't even try to parry this deal.

FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES: My Life as a King now available

Our latest title, FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES: My Life as a King became available today via Nintendo's new WiiWare service. Here's the package:

Can't see it? Well, it doesn't exist. You can only download the game through the WiiWare service (meaning, there are no physical copies for sale), so we didn't have to create a package art for it. Some of us will be out of jobs in a few years if this becomes mainstream... but that doesn't concern you. You can go download the game and play it on your Wii now (literally). To find out more about the game, please visit the official site.

Happy Mother's Day

This Sunday is Mother's Day. If you're still shopping at this time, you won't be able to order anything from our online store. Shame on you.

But for next year (or anytime of year), may we suggest Sephiroth's gift to his mother, the black materia Meteor suspended as a pendant of 925 silver.

Perfect for mothers with a penchant for bringing doom to the planet.

FINAL FANTASY FABLES: Chocobo's Dungeon Front Package Art

Here's the front package art for FINAL FANTASY FABLES: Chocobo's Dungeon:

FINAL FANTASY FABLES: Chocobo's Dungeon returns our feathered hero to his dungeoneering roots on July 8. And it's really good this time.

Small update

We added some game-play videos of The World Ends with You, but we expect you all to have seen them already. In the actual game. Right?

We received a question about yesterday's blog post:

Q. Are the soundtracks imports?

A. Yes. They are all Japanese imports. We're planning to carry more soundtrack CDs at our e-store. We'll keep you posted.

Mog Paint Contest deadline extended

FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES: Ring of Fates Moogle Paint Contest, which was supposed to end today, has a new extended deadline!

You can now submit your moogle art via Nintendo DS WiFi connection before May 30th, 2008 to enter the contest. The contest details can be found on the offcial contest rules page and on FFCC News Blog.

By the way, if you haven't visited FFCC News Blog before, you're missing out. It has lots and lots of posts from the FFCC: Ring of Fates' development team showing us what goes on behind the closed doors of Square Enix headquarters. You'll see they're all real people working on these titles. Real people. No kidding.

FINAL FANTASY TACTICS A2: Grimoire of the Rift official site updated

We updated the official FINAL FANTASY TACTICS A2: Grimoire of the Rift web site today and now it's more than just a static page with a release date. We promised you that we'll talk about this game soon so here we go.

In reply to yesterday's blog post, we received a couple of questions about the game; here are our answers:

Q. I've never played the FINAL FANTASY TACTICS series. Is it essential to have played FINAL FANTASY TACTICS Advance (for GameBoy Advance) in order to fully understand the storyline of FFTA2?

A. No. The storyline of FFTA2 is completely independent of FFT Advance. You have nothing to worry about!

Q. Does it actually take 110+ hours to beat the game?

A. No. You can probably beat it in less than half that time. But you can play it for 110+ hours and more if you feel like completing all 300 quests, having everyone in your clan master every possible ability, or simply enjoying the battles over and over and over... which is what this particular MEMBERS blogger is doing. Fun!
