Art Director for FINAL FANTASY XII, FINAL FANTASY XIII, and artist on the FINAL FANTASY X team, Isamu Kamikokuryo again lends his talents to the artistic direction of the latest FINAL FANTASY installment. According to Kamikokuryo-san, lots of elements in real life have given him inspiration for his designs, in fact recently he attended a panel at New York Comic Con with Deus Ex: Human Revolution Art Director Jonathan Jacques-BellĂȘtete where the two shared ideas and discussed inspirations as the two (eastern and western artists) collaborate together in the same company. The panel ended with the two sharing depictions of each other's characters done in the art style of their counterpart.
Environments:
One of the more exciting things for a FINAL FANTASY fan is to see the amazing effects in battle. The spells and attacks in FINAL FANTASY XIII-2, as well as the interactive cinematic experiences throughout are jaw-dropping. Check out some of the great scenes we've lined up below:
Battle:
And of course major elements of past FINAL FANTASY titles have made their way into the game, sometimes in surprising ways. Moogles are used as constant companions for seeking out lost treasure, and many classic monsters come back both to oppose you on the battlefield and join you against later foes!
FINAL FANTASY Themes
We're so proud of the beautiful artistic designs of FINAL FANTASY XIII-2 that for purchasers of the Collector's Edition for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, you're treated to a variety of concept art creations from the team, many that ultimately made it as major key art for the title. In fact you can see some of the early designs for main characters such as Lightning and Serah.
We hope this look into the art of FINAL FANTASY XIII-2 was inspiring and exciting, and we know that come next week you'll be equally impressed with the game in action. Before we leave you until tomorrow however, we have a gift in the form of new wallpapers using some of the more stunning art created by the team:
