Mog Paint Contest deadline extended

FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES: Ring of Fates Moogle Paint Contest, which was supposed to end today, has a new extended deadline!

You can now submit your moogle art via Nintendo DS WiFi connection before May 30th, 2008 to enter the contest. The contest details can be found on the offcial contest rules page and on FFCC News Blog.

By the way, if you haven't visited FFCC News Blog before, you're missing out. It has lots and lots of posts from the FFCC: Ring of Fates' development team showing us what goes on behind the closed doors of Square Enix headquarters. You'll see they're all real people working on these titles. Real people. No kidding.

FINAL FANTASY TACTICS A2: Grimoire of the Rift official site updated

We updated the official FINAL FANTASY TACTICS A2: Grimoire of the Rift web site today and now it's more than just a static page with a release date. We promised you that we'll talk about this game soon so here we go.

In reply to yesterday's blog post, we received a couple of questions about the game; here are our answers:

Q. I've never played the FINAL FANTASY TACTICS series. Is it essential to have played FINAL FANTASY TACTICS Advance (for GameBoy Advance) in order to fully understand the storyline of FFTA2?

A. No. The storyline of FFTA2 is completely independent of FFT Advance. You have nothing to worry about!

Q. Does it actually take 110+ hours to beat the game?

A. No. You can probably beat it in less than half that time. But you can play it for 110+ hours and more if you feel like completing all 300 quests, having everyone in your clan master every possible ability, or simply enjoying the battles over and over and over... which is what this particular MEMBERS blogger is doing. Fun!

We haven't talked much about this game, which will be released on June 24... but we will. Soon. All we can tell you now is that it's a good game. This particular MEMBERS blogger has dedicated 110+ hours to playing the game. You will too, in less than two months!

DAY 3:

Well, all good things must unfortunately come to an end...

08042501.jpgThe last day of Comic Con was a day of many goodbyes, including to some of the figures that were available for purchase at our booth. So who do you think was the first to go? This guy right here:

SE-PHI-ROTH! (You know you want to sing that out loud)

Cloud and Vincent followed closely behind, and Reno nearly got the SOLD OUT sticker treatment as well, thanks to everyone that picked up their favorite FINAL FANTASY VII character(s).

A big THANK YOU once again to everyone that stopped by our booth! You guys made the 10-hour shifts bearable (and actually fun!) and we look forward to running into you all again at future conventions. We will have more to share at our online store in the coming months, so make sure to visit often!

NY Comic Con Event Diary: Day 2

SQUARE ENIX MEMBERS is now one month old. Hooray.

Now that that's out of the way, here's Day 2 of NY Comic Con event diary by our Assistant PR Manager Amelia Cantlay.

DAY 2:

A full day for all Comic Con attendees! The floors were open to public from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., so we had plenty of time to discuss merchandise with everyone that stopped by.

Here are the top five questions that were asked during the show (and if any of you reading this remember asking these questions, don't worry you weren't alone!):

1. Don't you have any CRISIS CORE figures? Where's Zack?? I want Zack!

A Zack figure sounds awesome! We had an overwhelming demand for CRISIS CORE - FINAL FANTASY VII - merchandise and the team definitely got the message from you all. Currently we have the SOLDIER Key Ring and Loveless Locket available online, but there should be more to come... especially now that we've found out there's so much love out there for Zack and his crew :)

08042401.jpg2. Why is the jewelry so expensive?

Oh boy let me tell you about this jewelry. We saw so many people do double-takes at the price tags on these, but there's a good reason behind it all. The team that created this jewelry wanted to make something that fans could actually wear in their daily lives - something that doesn't look like costume jewelry - and a lot of effort was put into its production. "Holy" on the right there is made with green fluorite, and "Meteor" is onyx, and that's sterling silver all around! The team chose stones that are said to have healing or energizing properties to make these as materia-like as possible!

3. Can I have that Sephiroth?

That Sephiroth over there? The big one in that display case? He is unfortunately not available yet :( He'll be coming out this summer though! Cheer up! And if you visit our online store you'll see that Cloud is currently available in that same ¼ scale size. Why not have him keep you company while you wait for Sephiroth's grand entrance? ;)

08042402.jpg4. Is that a Chocobo rubber ducky?! *squeal*

Indeed! That is a Chocobo rubber ducky and he actually floats! The merchandise team had to go through several rounds of production since his heavy backside was causing sinkage... What do you guys think? The team definitely likes to have fun with their projects, and this little ducky might just make it into our selection if we see that enough people are willing to give him a home.

08042403.jpg5. When will that Fullmetal Alchemist piece become available?

It seems like a lot of people were pleasantly surprised to find out that we're working on a Fullmetal Alchemist piece. The version we had on display during Comic Con is in a state of mid-production so this one isn't ready for the market just yet.

It was great to hear what everyone had to say about the merchandise. Questions, comments, requests... everything has been relayed to the merchandise team and will definitely be a source of inspiration for their future creations.

Only one day left!
